So, my husband loves Chance The Rapper - and in popular wife-fashion, I refused to. I refused to listen to him. You know, when your hubby just LOVES something, and you want to make him feel like "its not that cool." So every time he turned on a song by him I'd just sit there looking like this: -_-
I looked just like that emoji.
But I gave in. I started listening to some of his music, and Wowowow. I was blown AWAY. He is one of the top artists of this generation. Something about his music is so smoothe, spiritual and transdentent! Its real, raw, and open.
But - this isn't a music lesson. But so, I listened to this one song of his, and he is just openly talking about all the current problems in America. In it, he talks about all the thing we ALL think about - but no one is brave enough to stand up and say. Ironically titled: "First World Problems":
I hear the seams snappin', and I'm the team captain
No more knee slappin' or shoe shinin' or shoe signin'
'Til the dream happens, I'm just gon' keep rappin'
And y'all just keep clappin' and keep actin' like
Flint got clean water and y'all don't got teen daughters
And black friends and gay cousins, y'all just gon' say nothin'
Know that the day comin', knees bowed, tongues confessin'
The last ones gettin' first dibs on blessings
When's the last time you were vulnerable? And talked about how you really felt?
We live in such a fake world of "Likes!". And "Hey how are you?" "GREAT! How are you?" When really you just failed your math test, your boyfriend broke up with you and your car won't start.
When's the last time you were real, open and raw with someone? When was the last time you were real, open and raw...with yourself?
I challenge you to be more vulnerable. More real, and stop fearing rejection of others. We NEED that. The world, needs that - from you.

Hey, I'm Fatima, and I just had my second baby. And we treat post partum depression like it's imaginary. But, it's not...
